A Beginner’s Guide to Easy Guitar Tabs

Learning the different tabs of a guitar is one of the basic ways a new guitarist can get a feel for the way his instrument works. Guitar tabs, also known as tablature, are the sheet music that explain how to play each song. Knowing easy guitar tabs will provide the individual with a means of producing actual music. Tabs can seem like a hassle to learn, but it will be incredibly rewarding to have them mastered. So first get yourself acquainted with some easy guitar tabs, and you will be on your way to becoming a real guitarist.

To begin, you will need to get a hold of some tablature. Once you have done that, look at it closely. There should be six horizontal lines on the tablature. Each of them represents a string on your guitar which is assigned a particular note. Going from the bottom to the top, those notes are EADBGE. The bottom string is the thickest of all and the lowest in pitch. Consequently, the top string on your guitar is the thinnest, and the highest pitched.

The numbers at the left side of the tabs tell you which frets to place your fingers on for each note. A 1 is for the first fret, 2 for the second, etc. When you see a 0 on a guitar tab that is calling for you to play an open string. Now, if all of the fret numbers are together or on top of each other, that means that you need to strum. Strumming is how the music really comes alive. Easy guitar tabs will not be all that complicated to learn

When you actually start playing the notes for your easy guitar tabs, take a listen to how each note sounds. By doing this, you will get in the habit of knowing what to expect from each note. And if you do not hear what you are supposed to hear, you can correct the problem with a guitar tuner.

If you have a music teacher helping you learn guitar, this person will help you get a feel for different tabs and how they are used in popular music. Some tabs are going to sound eerily familiar to you. That is because some easy guitar tabs are used in a variety of different songs. Talk about learning worthwhile material. Even the best guitarists use the easier tabs when the song calls for them.

You can read about tablature all you want, but it really will not mean a thing until you pick up a guitar and start practicing what you have learned. Tabs show you what notes are meant to be played. If you do not play, you will not get anywhere. On the other hand, the more you play, the better you will become. And eventually you can start working your way up to playing more difficult guitar songs.
