Learning about Easy Guitar Tabs
If you are a beginner guitar player, chances are you have heard the phrase “easy guitar tabs” running around in guitar conversation. Though it may seem like something that is beyond your skill level, chances are you need to understand what easy guitar tabs are all about in regard to you learning to play your new guitar. There are many considerations about easy guitar tabs that you may need to know, and it is important to know them all.
What Are They
Guitar tabs are simpler versions of sheet music that beginner guitar players use when they are first starting out. They are in the form of a simple diagram and are drawn specifically to represent different things that the player needs to know to play a song. You can find easy guitar tabs for thousands of beginner guitar songs to play.
How They Work
Easy guitar tabs work in a specific way to help guitar players read a note without taking too much trouble to learn to read sheet music. The tab looks like six horizontal line to represent each line of the guitar. There will be a number sitting on one of the lines – the line the number is sitting on is the string that needs to be held, while the number itself is the fret that needs to be held to make that note.
Using Them to Learn
The nice thing about using easy guitar tabs for beginner players is that they help the player learn to look down at music without forcing them to learn to read full-on sheet music just yet. They are also great for helping the player see quickly a reminder of how to make a particular note, as the representations of the tabs are so easy to understand. Many guitar players that are just starting use them because they can be found everywhere, for thousands of songs.
The Transition
Once a beginner guitar player has easy guitar tabs down and has used them to learn several beginner songs, there is another bonus to easy guitar tabs, and that is to help the player transition into reading sheet music. Of course it will still be difficult, but your previous experience in looking down at music while you play and deciphering which line the note is on, etc, it won’t be quite as difficult as if you had tried to learn to read sheet music from the beginning.

hey, just picked up a guitar without knowing a thing about it, it sounds like this tab thing is the way to go… well i guess ill find out. and yes my name is really also Michael Adams
so this may just be me, but it seems like all the articles on here are difficult to read and a little redundant from one article to the next. it doesnt seem like you wrote these yourself? if not you should really write one or two stating some of the things you found difficult in learning the tabs, and also in the song “More Than Words” there are +’s and x’s that are unexplained in the articles, i figured out the x’s but still confused on the +’s, along with the end of chorus riff in chasing cars, there are x’s there too… other than difficulty understanding because of lack of info these tabs seem to be pretty good and im kinda starting to pick up on them, cant wait till im playing whole songs

The guitar is a plucked string instrument, usually played with fingers or a pick. The guitar consists of a body with a rigid neck to which the strings, generally six in number, are attached. Guitars are traditionally constructed of various woods and strung with animal gut or, more recently, with either nylon or steel strings. Some modern guitars are made of polycarbonate materials. Guitars are made and repaired by luthiers. There are two primary families of guitars: acoustic and electric.
Acoustic guitars (and similar instruments) with hollow bodies, have been in use for over a thousand years. There are three main types of modern acoustic guitar: the classical guitar (nylon-string guitar), the steel-string acoustic guitar, and the archtop guitar. The tone of an acoustic guitar is produced by the vibration of the strings, which is amplified by the body of the guitar, which acts as a resonating chamber. The classical guitar is often played as a solo instrument using a comprehensive fingerpicking technique.
Electric guitars, introduced in the 1930s, rely on an amplifier that can electronically manipulate tone. Early amplified guitars employed a hollow body, but a solid body was found more suitable. Electric guitars have had a continuing profound influence on popular culture. Guitars are recognized as a primary instrument in genres such as blues, bluegrass, country, flamenco, jazz, jota, mariachi, reggae, rock, soul, and many forms of pop.
